We are excited to hear that you are called to teach. Teaching is a noble profession and we seek applications from people who love Jesus, love children and love learning.
The decision to embark on this journey is important and we look forward to hearing your story and sharing the vision of the Teaching School with you. To select the best and brightest teachers, we have a staged application approach where you will have the opportunity to share you vision as you engage with the Teaching School team, students and our school communities.
How Do I Apply?
Expression of Interest
Submit an Expression of Interest and one of our friendly team members will contact you with more information about the program and the application process. If an upcoming Open Evening is soon approaching, applicants will be encouraged to attend. During Term 2, St Philip's Teaching School also run a 'Teach for a Day' event held at each of our participating Colleges; this is a fantastic way to experience first-hand what College life is like.
Stage 1 - Submission of Application
To begin your St Philip's Teaching School application journey, applicants must complete both a St Philip's Teaching School Application Form, and an application at your chosen Christian tertiary provider (please contact St Philip's Teaching School for list of applicable Christian tertiary providers). Next, the St Philip's Teaching School team will receive confirmation from the Christian tertiary provider that applicants have the relevant qualifications and met all criteria to enrol in the nominated tertiary pathway, and that all documentation has been submitted. A shortlist of applicants are selected by the St Philip's Teaching School, and the director of the chosen Christian tertiary provider.
The application process will lead to two possible outcomes. If the applicant is unsuccessful, they will be contacted by the St Philip's Teaching School team and given feedback on their application journey. Successful applications will be offered an interview.
Stage 2 - Interviews
Successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview at St Philip's Teaching School, made up of St Philip's Teaching School representatives. Prior to the applicants interview, they will be required to submit a student-focused activity.
The initial interview process will lead to two possible outcomes. If the application is unsuccessful, the applicant will be given feedback including the offer to discuss other pathways and options. Successful applicants will progress to the next stage of the process.
Stage 3 - School-based Interviews
The St Philip's Teaching School applicant will be invited to meet with the St Philip's Teaching School Coordinator and Principal, at a host school as determined by the panel and based on the applicants preference. The panel provides feedback to the applicant.
Successful applicants will be offered a position and be introduced to their mentor. Unsuccessful applicants are notified by phone, and feedback will be given, including other pathways.
Applicants will be notified of their school placement and mentor teacher, and issued with a Letter of Offer and supporting documentation. Offers at this stage remain conditional upon successful application to one of our Christian Tertiary Providers. Trainees will meet their mentor and attend a training session following unconditional approval.
Congratulations
We are excited to have you as part of our St Philip's Teaching School Village - what an exciting and rewarding journey. You will begin meeting your Teaching School Village at this stage, and attend your Host School Induction Day and Teaching School Orientation.
