National Reconciliation Week invites all Australians to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories. It is an opportunity to share this knowledge, fostering growth and unity within our nation.
Last week, our school community has reflected on the meaning of reconciliation and how we can seek justice and build relationships with all people. In our Junior School, students explored the concept of reconciliation through picture books and stories. Middle and Senior students engaged in discussions aimed at fostering empathy and respect. Our staff devotions focused on reconciliation through the Cross, reflecting on Jesus' love and forgiveness as a model for us.
SPCC Gosford is committed to building a future that recognises our rich history and seeks reconciliation with our First Nation people.
The custom artwork depicted and now proudly displayed in our College Administration building is by Gemma Wilson, titled ‘’Burrul-gi-gi’’ (grow) which tells the story of the college, has symbolic meaning, and represents Reconciliation and relationship between St Phillips Christian College and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
