On Friday 2nd August, students and staff enjoyed an exciting wide range of activities to help fundraise for two schools in Kenya – Mission in Action orphanage and school, and the Stewards Light school. Thanks to your generosity we managed to raise $5,500 for these schools, which is a record Ken’ya Help Day offering.
Mission in Action Orphanage and School provides a safe environment for around 80 children to live and be educated so that they can make a difference to their communities when they are older.
Steward's Light School, which is run by Herbert and Dorina, sponsor local children to come to school to gain an education which they would not normally have the opportunity to receive.
A big thank you our Year eight student leadership team, Year six IGNITE student volunteers, Zara Matthews, Mrs Chirkoff, Mrs Wilesmith, Mr Ryan, Mrs Osbourne and Mrs Brodyk who did an amazing job behind the scenes in putting together another successful Ken’ya Help Day. A shout out to Mr Brealey and His fantastic obstacle course.
Our incredible music students from Years 7 to 11 also showcased their talents. The event featured outstanding performances, including:
(The Wicked Mallrats) Year 7’s Will and Baxter: Covering some of Nirvana's hits
Year 9 Students: Debuting with instrumental versions of "Can't Stop" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a flute cover of "Talking to the Moon" by Bruno Mars
Year 10 Students (Ruby, Jasmine, Elijah, and Lucas): Performing covers of Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Frank Sinatra, and Sheppard
Year 11 Students: Delivering a powerful rendition of "Chalk Outlines" and a beautiful instrumental version of "Don't Let Me Down"
All students involved should be extremely proud of their performances. Thank you for making Kenya Help Day a memorable event!
Thank you to all who contributed by having their children participate. You’ve made a big impact in helping build and support our extended community.
