Celebrating Culture and Creativity

First Nations students from Years 7–12 recently embraced a unique opportunity to collaborate with Up&Up Inspirations and renowned local Aboriginal artist Jess Hopcroft from Dhiiyaan Art. Together, they worked to design a stunning mural for our school and developed their spray-painting skills, creating individual pieces of art to cherish and take home.

We were honoured to welcome Sonia Sharpe, President of the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), and Stephanie Earl, AECG Secretary, to join us for this inspiring cultural and artistic experience.

Jess Hopcroft, whose work has been featured at the Mitch Revs Gallery and the Maitland Art Gallery for the Queens of Mindaribba LALC exhibit, continues to gain recognition for her impactful art. Her achievements include designing the Newcastle Falcons Indigenous Round uniform, painting vibrant murals across the region, and showcasing her art at the local Tourist Centre.t Mural

This experience provided an incredible opportunity for students to connect with their culture and peers from different year groups in a creative and meaningful way. We look forward to welcoming Up&Up Inspirations and Jess Hopcroft back next year to bring the collaborative mural to life.
