Our Story

Since 1982, we’ve continued to carve a path towards better education and effective learning environments.

Our History

Over four decades, we’ve continued to challenge ourselves to step forward and carve new paths; to explore and create better ways forward in education; and to equip students with holistic foundations, embedded in Christian values.

From humble beginnings in 1982, the St Philip’s group today consists of four K-12 co-ed colleges, six early learning centres, four special schools, two young parents’ colleges, a tertiary training sector, an outside of school hours academy and an Aboriginal school. With 5000 students and 800 staff, the St Philip’s group leads the way in Whole of Life education across the Newcastle, Central Coast and Hunter Regions.

Our Vision and Values

Our values are timeless, our relationships are real, and our vision is bold. Firmly grounded in our values of faith, service, excellence, integrity and community, we anticipate the changing needs of the future with confidence and ingenuity. We inspire a genuine joy in learning by exploring individual strengths and learning styles, designing tailored opportunities to challenge and equip our learners to excel across every area of their education, and indeed their life.

Being immersed in a values-led community, one that proudly demonstrates the Christian faith, we believe is fundamental to a student forming strong character, values, purpose and integrity that will stay with them throughout their life. In an increasingly challenging world, genuine connection to self, others and God is imperative to both individual wellbeing and our collective future as a society.

Our Education Philosophy

At St Philip's, the aim is to provide an enriching and liberating education; an education that not only teaches, but transcends the discipline of learning and the acquisition of competencies, to develop a deep understanding of the greatness of life and learning. Attention is given to the development of the whole child through a balanced curriculum involving the academic, social, physical and spiritual. Nurture in the Christian faith is seen as vital to a student forming strong values, purpose and integrity.

We aim to develop global citizens who are enriched in their education journey with not only a superior academic education, but strong personal integrity and a deep understanding of their inner and outer worlds in which they find themselves emotionally, intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually.

Completely equipped, for the whole of life.
